Moving Thursday

Thursday is the big day! We'll be leaving our beautiful home by the lake and moving to the city. There will be big changes, but DH and I are ready for new adventures.
I believe the gardens are very aware that we'll be moving, too: they put on a spectacular show of colour during the last week. I have never seen the gardens looking so lush and beautiful, with so many blooms.

On the stitching front. I've been working on my July Block. I added some tatting........

some cast-on stitch flowers, with mauve french knots
and couched this shiny ribbon, added a lace strip with ribbon running across the top, plus some subtle stitching on the lace rose
Here's July so far..........

I've been adding lots of stitching to my wrapping cloth piece #7, too.
tatted JK cascades along the wild strip

rows of buttonhole lace on the side lace panel and on the organza ribbon on top
2 sizes of buttonhole lace and fk's
cast-on stitch chains along the wild strip

wrapping cloth piece #7 is almost finished!
Sorry the pic is so dark--it's been a cloudy, rainy day

just a couple more titivations and I'll be starting piece # 8!
I would have damp-stretched this, but my board is already packed. lol

I shall not be able to reply to all you lovely people who leave such pleasant and supportive comments here, as the computer will be unplugged sometime Tuesday.
I'm not sure just how long I'll be offline, but I do know I'll miss you!

May you find many enjoyable hours  to follow your muse and create while I'm away.
Good-bye lake, and turtle island. Good-bye gardens, beaver pond, and Rockman. Good-bye house, and quiet solitude in the bush. Hello city life!
Thanks for visiting.

July Madness

My gardens are wild and weedy. Some shrubs are too big and bushy, but I've been too busy packing to tend to my plants. Here's a little peek:

Well, our move is on the 11th, and there's still running around and more packing to do. Yet, there have been quiet moments at tea breaks during the day, and some time in the evenings to stitch.
In spite of good intentions, I've not made any progress on my July block, and shall have to play a little catch-up later.
On piece #7 of my wrapping cloth,  a bazillion bullions were added here and there

lots of buttonhole lace, too

and french knots
 organza ribbon .....

and lace flowers on top

auditioning lace strips for the sides....hmmmm...I think they'll stay.

Maybe some more buttonhole lace....
what do you think?

Happy Stitching!
Hope everyone had a special Canada Day!
Happy 4th of July!

Thanks for visiting.

Blooming and Stitching

In my garden:

Hi everyone. We are madly packing, and stacking boxes, but I take some time in the evenings to stitch.
My June Block is complete:
I beefed up the pretty pink and white gimp trim with rows of buttonhole lace, added some purple to the fly stitch seam, and two seams of cast-on stitch chains, one in green and one in pink.

July has a lovely piece of warm lace-- a rose!-- pinned into place. I like how the fabric  below the lace repeats the curve.........

There are lots of little seams to embellish!

Work continues on my wrapping cloth.
This little dangle reminds me of a berry. It has 3 woven picot leaves and is topped with a Josephine knot cascade

It dangles on 3 buttonhole wrapped threads
and piece #6 is completed

Piece #7 is a little larger and has a 'wild' framed center lace piece with lots of open space for embellishing
I hope you've had some time this week to create, too.

I'd best get back to packing!

Thanks for visiting.

WIPs

Thanks to everyone who left such lovely comments on my last post. Right now, time does not permit me to reply to each of you.
Today, I am here so, if you have time, maybe you'll visit.
Have a wonderful week doing what you love.

"June is Bustin' Out All Over"

The gardens are growing, and flowers blooming with all the rain we've had lately. The photos tell the story:

On the stitching front, I've sewn down the trims on my June block, and I've begun some roses on the trellis fabric......not much progress, but I hope to get in more stitching next week

I've almost finished my piece #5 for my wrapping cloth:
I extended some of the buttonhole lace and joined sections together, creating more pockets and 2 bridges.
this lace extension joins the broderie anglais to the open edge of the fabric pocket
I added one of the beautiful lace pieces Robin sent me to decorate the large pocket

Here's how the piece looks now........but there's a little more colour needed, don't you agree?

And now some news:
We've sold our wonderful lakeside home, and we'll be moving in a month to the nearest city. We're looking forward to new adventures and new opportunities.
Now, I probably won't be able to post as often, nor will I be able to visit you and comment as often as I'd like to do. I'll try to keep up with my Tuesday Stitchers blog posts.
There's only 4 weeks to sort, cull, and pack everything for the movers!
Gee, I miss you already!

Wishing you all time to stitch, sew or tat and warm sunshiny days.

Thanks for visiting.
