Tuesday Tats

It's Tuesday! So you know that means I've been tatting. Ah, but what?

I've been adding more tatting to my white CQ piece:

 Josephine Knot cascades
bullion stitch, which is somewhat like a wrap stitch formed on the needle, gently pulled through, and then stitched into the fabric. Sorry it's blurry. Looks rather like green worms, to me.

                                              what's this?   a tongue?
It looks like a cluny....sort of....a cluny attached to the fabric. Now, don't go thinking I've finally mastered the cluny. I'm afraid it isn't so.
One of my embroidery books describes it as a woven picot stitch, but it's also called stumpwork.
It's woven like a cluny, too. The only difference I can see is that a tatting cluny is free-formed, while the stumpwork is attached to fabric at the base.
I can't do clunies very well, but, hey, I like this woven picot stitch!

I twisted the 'cluny' and tacked it down on a seam, then added a small bead. Then I added more JK cascades, 'Josephine chains', plus a few smaller bullion stitches in the varigated thread.

I tatted the motif, then created 3 different sized cluny-stumpwork  'stems' in the centre, twisted, turned, and tacked them to create what looks, to me, like a lotus flower. I then added a white 'pearl' in its centre.

There are more seams to embellish, so I think I'll be doing some more tatting.
Hope you have a wonderful day.

Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

  9. Gee, Ro, I hadn't even thought of that. But it would be wonderful if it did become an heirloom. Thanks for the thought! Guess that means I'll need to frame it or put it into a shadow box to protect it. Any suggestions? Hugs
