Christmas Cards: Funky Tree

I've been making cards for Christmas. First, I prepared a mylar stencil of a Christmas Tree sketch. It's a little bit funky.

the mylar is placed over a card and the opening dampened

first some green

then some blue

the mylar removed to show the tree

the drips and splotches add to the effect

some dried cards

different color combinations

some look fat

some are colorful

some are just a little weird

The cards are ready for the next step..........

a little gold here and there

Once dry, I added some glitter glue, and more gold on the edge to make the cards look like this:

Now I have to send them on their way to family and friends.

It's fun to make my own cards

Hope you receive many wonderful cards this Christmas Season.
Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

  5. Max, I thank you. They're certainly a little different, aren't they?

Thanks, Judy. They are such fun to make, too. I've thought of doing them on cloth and making fabric Christmas cards. Hmmm, maybe next year.

Dorthe, glad you like the cards. Mylar is a plastic material one can buy in rolls at the art shops, which cuts easily, and I use it to make stencils. I'm sure it has other applications as well since it's available in transparent or opaque surfacing.

I think so, too, Happy Bluebird. I have a few friends who make their own, and I love to receive them!

  19. Thank you, Deb. That's one of the really fun parts about using the mylar. Every card is different, even though the basic design is the same. Thanks for commenting.

  20. Hi Judy, and thanks so much for your comments. I'm a mezzo soprano but right now I'm singing Alto 2. Do you sing, too? We've just finished our Christmas concert series, so now it's time for a little more relaxing.....I hope! Being in the choir and performing the Christmas music really helps to get me in the Festive spirit.
