TAST-Drizzle Stitch

I had fun with the TAST stitch this week, and created some 'pink coral'. I really like the drizzle!

Happy stitching!

  3. Wonderful!! I bet you're really good at this stitch because of your tatting background. What thread did you use?

  4. Your stitching looks great Suz! I am just getting started. I like the longer pieces. Like Susan, I'm curious what thread you've used.

  5. Thanks Margaret! I really enjoyed this stitch since it's rather like tatting. I used 3 or 4 different threads. Happy stitching!

  6. Yes, Susan, I think it's because I love needle tatting that I really had fun with this stitch. In fact, I used my tatting needle to get those long, curly drizzles!
I used several threads: 1 tatting thread, size 30, in pink, a 'found' thread, probably in size 20 in a darker pink, a variegated (pale pink to burgundy) perle thread, probably size 8, a medium pink perle thread, size 5. I think the mix of sizes and thread colours makes it look more organic. Thanks.

  10. Beautiful!!! I guess there are about thirty cast on stitches to create the long drizzles. Pretty colors too. Would be nice on a pink pebble ;)

  11. Drizzle coral looks amazing. I also can see fun "hair" on a doll made of cloth or clay. I shall have to look up drizzle stitch as I have never done it. Blissful Stitching Dear...

  12. Marjolein, some have lots more than 30! I used my tatting needle to make the long drizzles, and it worked perfectly.
They would be perfect on a pink pebble.......i had some drizzles on my last pebble, but in warm creams.....the next one will be cream, too, to complete the set.
    Happy stitching!

  13. You're so right, Createology-- I saw another stitcher's blog, and she had done just that! Her 'doll' was stitched on fabric though, but it looked great. Drizzle is a bit fiddly at first, but what results!

  15. Really neat drizzles Suz. This was a fun stitch to learn. Next time I'll try making mine longer though as I stuck to only 8 wraps.

  16. Some of my drizzles had more than 48 wraps !! I used a tatting needle since it's 5" long--lots of wrapping room.
