Christmas Stocking Swap and Treasures

I participated in a Christmas stocking swap, run by Lyn and on Monday, my new stockings were in the mailbox. I thought I'd show them off.        The theme : Silver
Aren't they gorgeous? I love them.

Thank you, stocking swappers!

And treasures found at the local second-hand shop:
I found another Erica Wilson book!
Lots of ideas in here for embellishing.

the baggie contains some eyelet trim.

there's a beautiful crocheted pansy doily

and a lovely lace-edged hanky

close-ups:
a stained glass angel pin.......I think it could easily become a Christmas tree ornament, or a fabulous gift tag for someone special

these butterfly earrings are so pretty, even though only 1 butterfly has a single antenna......it came off easily
I can see these showing up on a CQ with new antennae stitched onto the fabric..........

definitely treasures!

I seem to have the best luck when it comes to our local second hand shop, don't I?

I hope you find some treasures, too.

Happy Thanksgiving wishes to everyone celebrating and giving thanks tomorrow. May you have a joyous time with family and safe travels!

Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

  5. Lucky you Suz, Eva's stocking is lovely, as I've seen it up close, in fact Eva, Alison and I all made our stocking on the same day at Eva's home.
Looking forward to getting my exchange soon.

  10. You're right Karen. It may find a home on a white piece I'm planning. I'll have to find a way to attach it whole, I think, as I can't bear to cut it.

  13. The stockings will certainly be part of my home decorations!
Anita, I think the second hand shop must have received boxes of goodies from the same person in all the Erica Wilson books I've found, as well as embroidery supplies. Lucky timing, I think, too.
    Hope you find some treasures.

  14. Thanks Margaret. I didn't even notice the missing butterfly antenna until I got home I was so taken with the design. They'll be popping up on a project for sure.
Hope you're having a good day.

  15. Thanks Judy! I think the stockings are too big for our tree, but they'll look beautiful on my staircase railing!

  16. You do have a good thrift store! But, it seems to me that you also have an eagle's eye for spotting the treasures to be found there!

  17. I'm not sure about the eagle eye, Starr, but I have been known to go digging in the store bins! Sometimes there are treasures on the bottom.
    Happy weekend!

  18. Wonderful finds (half the fun of thrifting is the thrill of the chase). You definitely scored! Sweet little stockings too.

  20. Your stocking swap looks like a fun one indeed. Wonderful treasures you acquired at your local store. Using them will be lots of fun and make your projects extra special. Creative Bliss dear...

  21. Thanks Createology. It's fun to find those little treasures. I can't believe all the beautiful handwork in the second-hand shop that is sold for just pennies. The pansy doily was priced at 25 cents! Can you believe it? So many hours of time and talent to create something so pretty, and it's not valued by a lot of people. Such a shame.
I hope to use this in a crazy quilt, or perhaps another project. I'd like to keep it in one piece.
I was really pleased with the stocking swap, and I hope Lyn has another next year.
