After our Christmas Choir Concerts were finished, I started decorating the house for Christmas. Our tree:
DH spied this critter crossing the ice-covered lakeMr Fox turned back when he reached the center, and found it wasn't as solid as he'd hoped
I've been wanting to make Dorset Buttons for a while, and thought this one would adorn my December CQJP block...........but I made it too big
TAST this week is the berry stitch.......sort of a double lazy daisy........some here
and here......
and here......
white stars and snowflakes.......
and December's block looks almost finished
Wishing everyone a Blessed, Merry Christmas!
May you enjoy happy times with friends and family.
Safe travels for all journeying this Holiday Season.
Special prayers for everyone affected by the horror in the U.S. Too many lives cut short. So many grieving.
Hugs from Suz
Lovely tree and your December stitching is looking good.
ReplyDeleteI wish you and your family a very happy Christmas, I hope the snow does not get too deep for you and you don't get cut off. Lovely picture of the fox amazing how animals know when to turn back and how to survive in the winter.

Suz dear your tree looks beautiful. Love the Dorset buttons and your Berry stitching. May you enjoy your time with family and friends and make wonderful memories of this wondrous Christmas season.
ReplyDeleteMy heart is heavy and my healing prayers just don't seem enough for all affected by this senseless tragedy.
Loving Hugs Suz...
Love the tree Suz.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to you and your family for the festive season.
Love your stitching Suz. Your tree is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMaybe there'll be a ban on semi automatic weapons now? Australia banned them after the Hobart Massacre.
Is that a 'Tree of Life' I see on the little pink button? Love it! Your December block is looking great as is your tree. Fox are such beautiful creatures. He sure stands out against that white. Enjoyed seeing all of your stitching!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of one of my relatives...
ReplyDelete‘All My Relations...” Fox : )
Thanks Margaret. We've had freezing rain the last few days, so no going anywhere.......Maybe it'll get warmer and all the ice and snow will melt. One can hope. It would be perfect if all the snow here was as pretty as your daily tatted snowflakes. Have a jolly......

Createology, I wish you a joyous Christmas! Thanks

Right back at you, Doreen. Hope the jolly fellow pays you a nice visit!

I sure hope you're right, Judy.
ReplyDeleteHope your Christmas is filled with joy.

It is a little tree, Connie! I can't take credit, though: I saw the design online. But adding the tatting is my idea.
ReplyDeleteWe were quite surprised to see the fox in the middle of the day out in the open. Beautiful to see, though.

So, are there any similarities? Besides being beautiful and foxy, I mean. Are you both redheads?

lots to see on your blog this time, would never of thought of tatting on a dorsrt button, it works so so well. Tree is beautiful Your CQ blocks are as wonderful as ever, have a wonderful time with your family over the Christmas period.
ReplyDeleteThanks Margaret! Hope you have a lovely Christmas, too.

Your tree is so beautiful Suz! The tatting dorset buttons are lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anita! Most of the lights and the tree top are from our first Christmas together in 1972! Each year I marvel at the fact that they still work! A lot of the decorations are hand made, too: some by the kids when they were small. It's not a design Christmas tree, but it's full of wonderful memories made over the years.
ReplyDeleteThe tree design on the dorset is one I saw online, although it didn't have any tatting. They are fun little projects to do.

What a beautiful Christmas tree and lovely creations dear Suz, wish you a wonderful Christmas time and a Happy New Year.

Very nicely done stitching and tatting and your tree looks lovely. Must have been neat to see a fox on the lake! Have a wonderful Christmas holiday with family and friends :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Anni! The Best of Wishes to you and yours, too.

It was so neat to see that fox. I think it's the first one I've seen here, in 6 years.
ReplyDeleteHolly Jolly wishes!

the fox is very cute... and very sly. the animals have a great instinct for such things.
ReplyDeleteyour berry stitches are interessant for me. I made mine tight one in the other, and I had not thought to make them more separated. they look very nice like this
Your tree is BEAUTIFUL!! Love the snowy fox photo. How lucky you are to catch a glimpse of him out upon the lake. Our foxies are nocturnal (I think) because we never see them! Lovely quilt block too. Merry Christmas! Best Wishes!
ReplyDeleteHi Isabelle,
ReplyDeleteI wasn't getting very good results with the berry stitch done tightly. The stitches kept wanting to overlap each other. I thought it looked crowded and messy, so I 'cheated' and spread them out a bit so they wouldn't crowd each other. Thanks for the nice comments, and Happy Christmas!
Hugs
Thanks Starr! I think every tree is beautiful at night with the lights sparkling, and the ornaments glowing. A Christmas tree with love and memories on each branch is the most beautiful of all! Don't you think so?
ReplyDeleteWell, considering this is the first fox I've seen in the 6 years we've been here.........maybe Yours are just a little shy, too. DH has seen them around the driveway in the early morning, too.
Wishing you and yours a Wondrous Christmas!
Hugs
Have a fabulous Christmas & a creatve new year - lovely tree ;) x
ReplyDeleteThanks Emma! You too!
