The Last 2 Months and Stitching

Hi everyone.
During the last 2 months, I've received some delightful items in the mail, but there was very little spare time during our daughter and granddaughter's visit to post. So, better late than never.........

Sherry and I share a birthday, and she sent me these wonderful gifts to celebrate the day:

a beautiful pearl and crystal bracelet!

I love the magnetic clasp and the charms.

this lovely card
this sachet (I love sachets!) is filled with rose petals from her garden, and lavender (I love roses and lavender!)
pretty hand-beaded pins in an adorable, sparkly 'holder'

such creativity

Sherry, thank you so much for my Birthday Surprise!
I love everything!

I love, too, the fact that Sherry made each gift. As the  bracelet charm indicates, thank you for all the love!

The afternoon before my birthday, I found a bulging envelope in the mailbox. It was from Mary Anne. She didn't know it was my birthday, but the timing was perfect. Look at the delightful laces and trims she sent me!

I've already used some on my wrapping cloth pieces.

There's even a tatted edging!

Thanks so much MA for making my birthday even better!

Later, a third package showed up in the mail from Lyn. She sent me some of her vintage cards!
They remind me of my Mother's box, filled with old cards, I used to look through when I was young. Memories.

Thank you, Lyn!

My stitching fun continues with work on the October block, and my wrapping cloth:

some alternating lazy daisy trios and cast-on stitch chains filled out this seam treatment

a third chain was added
(took me three tries to get it right!)

the french knots will have bullions added for next week

October, so far.......

Piece # 9 of my wrapping cloth is progressing slowly:

two tats to cover small seams.....

more buttonhole lace and french knots on the hanky edgings....

a prairie point with buttonhole lace, cast-on stitch 'fastenings' and a white, sparkly button

here's how it all looks...

more titivations to come...

I hope you've had some happy creative time.

Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

  4. This is so wonderful. It's heartwarming how much love we feel for each other - this community of bloggers and stitchers - to see so much love given. It makes me happy to see people being so kind and generous. This is how it should be. I hope you had a very happy birthday, and all of your gifts are just beautiful. Happy birthday hug to you :)

    1. I agree, Starr, that this online community is a kind and generous one, and I feel lucky to be involved with so many beautiful souls who support and encourage one another. This giving, sharing and helpfulness made me feel part of a community when I lived in the bush, and it's as though we are family. A big, happy extended family! Thanks.

  8. Happy birthday! I thought of you when I went shopping last weekend. I purchased some material for a wrapping cloth, and when I was waiting my turn at the cutting table a woman asked me what it was for. I told her about your blog and how you've inspired me. Needless to say, she was very interested. Who knows... Maybe you've started a new trend!

    1. Ah, Freda, what a nice thing to say! Thank you.
Here's how I do the buttonhole lace:
I use a long thread. Once I get the 1st row down,I tie off the thread. I begin a second row stitching in the same direction as the first,
placing the needle through the open loop, pulling the thread with my left hand, while holding it's position with the right so there's no 'stretching' of the loop. The next and subsequent rows, ( all stitched in the same direction) I place the needle through the closed loop in the previous row, pulling the thread as before. Sounds funny just reading it, but you'll be better able to 'see' it as you stitch. Hope this helps. Happy stitching!
