After a late start, I made some progress on my tree skirt for CQJP 2014, and cut, sewed, and shaped the muslin. Since our tree is quite full, I decided to create an oblong skirt rather than a smaller circle.
To keep as full a skirt as possible, I chose to cut the skirt fabric into 4 sections, even though it meant that these larger pieces would be more difficult to handle.

TIAS after day 4 created a complete little piece
It's day 6 so my needle and thread are ready and waiting! I wonder what we're tatting.......

The tree skirt looks gorgeous with all the laces and snowflakes.Just wondering,wouldn't it be lot easier to embellish each section and then join them?
ReplyDeleteIt would be easier, Anita, but it would also make the circumference of the skirt smaller and when I made my calculations, I somehow 'forgot' to include extra for the seam allowances (??! how did that happen??!..lol)........This way I can more easily see the next section and hopefully make them work together smoothly as I am used to having sashing around my 'blocks' to separate them.

ReplyDeleteHi Janet! Thanks. The tree is for a different project (one I can't show right now) and the limbs and trunk were a lot of fun. The leaves are a different story......lol.......oh, guess who was trying some hooky love yesterday? I can't seem to get the tension right in my left hand.....well, actually how the thread is wrapped....can't find a comfortable way....yet. I'm still trying, though..... ;-O I want to hold it the same way i do for my tatting, but it doesn't work........

ReplyDeleteI have, MA, but then a little birdie told me you've been beavering away on some white cloth....! I haven't touched my wrapping cloth since before Christmas, and I am feeling the pull to get back to it, especially after seeing photos of yours. Well we had a very laid back and simple Christmas this year, so I really wasn't tired of it once it was over.........gee, now I'll have a constant reminder of it......does this mean I'll get my Christmas crafting, shopping and cards done early?....probably not...heheheh
