Not Much Stitching

Hi everyone. My Sis arrived Friday for a visit and left Tuesday afternoon, so there wasn't much stitching accomplished while she was here. We had fun, though.
I did, however, begin a new project late last week. It's for an upcoming wedding, but, in order to protect the identity of the couple, their photos were smudged

the lace monogram

Josephine knots cascading along the lace trims

more JK's to come

parts of the wedding invitation are included in this embroidery, but the couple's names have been blocked out

more embellishing and embroidering will happen, and perhaps some silk ribbon embroidery as well will appear on this piece

to date, we plan an oval presentation under glass and DH will create a fabulous frame.

it's a beginning..........

and that's it for this week stitch-wise

my hands are sore from gardening/weeding/mulching, digging, and hauling flagstone and rocks

there is blue and purple in the garden

the new bed I created, hauling and placing the flagstone and rocks

the new garden shed is up and the bed on the left is for more veg  once I finish the digging and create the raised beds

weeding, weeding, and more weeding as I discover just what is growing in the new-to-me gardens.

oops, there's some yellow I need to weed out.....

Hope you've had a creative week.

Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

    1. Now that all the bindweed has been removed (well, I think so- I hope so) the plants should do better this year. I'm making lots of humus for feeding the soil.......Thanks Margaret. Hope you're having sunny days, too.

    1. Oh, yes, Penny. Once I find out what is growing there, and learn about the plants, weed and feed and mulch and water, then I'll know where to put new plants! It feels good to see the progress one is making, although sometimes the body isn't quite as happy after all the work.......lol

    1. You are so right about the gardens, Shirley! I know you speak from lots of experience. My hips and knees had forgotten that, but they've been reminded many times since spring arrived....lol! I do hope the couple will like our creation, once it's done. Since they both garden, they should like the flowers, and since she loves antique linens, crocheted items and tatting and such, I hope she'll love the stitching.
      How are you doing?

  7. love stitchery, you know how much I love JK`s. Lots of hard work in the garden, why oh why do weeds grow so much quicker than anything else I ask myself.

    1. Aren't they such fun to make in clusters?
Ah, weeds. They grow faster, stronger, taller. In sun and shade. The bane of every gardener. Yet we persevere. Are we crazy?...lol

    1. Thanks so much, Anita. The gardens were one big attraction for me when we first saw this house, and I fell in love with the yard, and the patio. I hope to get the gardens in shape, and hopefully control the weeds.......ah, the tasks we set for ourselves........lol

    1. Thank you Jane. The cascading JK's always look like wisteria to me, so it fits with the garden theme. Plus they're such fun to do.

    1. Thanks MA! Do you miss the watering, weeding, mulching, feeding, digging and fertilizing too? lol! I admit I might not miss all that as much as having fresh flowers and veg to enjoy. But, I do like to get my hands in the earth.....

    1. Thanks Sherry. The embroidery will be growing over the next little while. The gardens are larger than what I've been used to, and a little overgrown, but I hope to 'tame' it over the next year or two............revise a bit here and there..........the soil seems very good as the weeds are prolific and well entrenched, but, I'm working on it bit by bit. Well, you know about gardens.....and yours are lovely. Hope you've had enough rain to sustain yours, and to drench the forest fires.

  13. I love what you are doing with your stitching, the Josephine Knots are stunning! You are creating a lovely keepsake for the young couple. Gardening....always so much fun to get started and then the weeds arrive. I hope one day to have my flower bed so full of flowers there will be no room for weeds...think that will happen?!?

  14. Thank you Deb! I hope the couple agree (though they're not young-- it's a second marriage for both, they are young at heart)
Aaaaccck! Weeds-- the bane of gardeners everywhere. I'm afraid it doesn't matter how full the flower beds are, the weeds find a way in there somehow. grrr After 30 years, my garden beds in our first 'country' house had very few weeds. Hmmm, perhaps these gardens might be weed free in another 30 years...?! I'll try........lol ....and hope

  15. the wedding piece is beautiful Susan, it will be cherished I'm sure. Love your garden! especially the shed which would immediately be claimed for a workshop if it were in my garden!!

    1. Thanks Karen! There's lots more stitching to do yet, but I'm pleased with the progress so far.
Now, if the shed was made of wood, and had screened windows, and didn't smell like plastic, and I could keep the door open without the floor warping in the sunshine, I'd agree with you about a summer workshop. It would be fun to stitch and paint in the garden, but I can do that sitting on the patio......Meanwhile, the garden shed is getting filled with garden tools, pots, and other items that were filling up the garage......
