Almost There

The Wedding Piece embroidery is almost finished!
I may add another leaf or two, or a bit of silk ribbon embroidery at the top before I add the beads.

Sorry some of the photos are a little dark--it's been a rainy, overcast morning.

Do you think it looks balanced?

Next time I hope to have photos of the completed piece with the fabulous frame my DH has created.
In the garden, a few new flowers have appeared.

 edible pod peas
lettuce
 Mmmmm, cherry tomatoes

It won't be long now before we're enjoying toasted tomato sandwiches! Yum. Or maybe BLT's!................or
cheddar and tomato............or.......;-)

I hope the sun is shining wherever you are. May you have a creative week ahead.

Thanks for visiting.

Hugs from Suz

  1. I love nice fresh from the vine tomatoes, but I don't want to wish the summer away in order to get them! Your wedding piece looks spectacular - a definite work of art that you should be extremely proud of.

Those cherry tomatoes are starting to ripen. Makes my mouth water just thinking about how nice they'll taste.

    1. I'm so glad you've enjoyed this wee journey, Margaret. I have, too, and it's sparked a new direction I want to investigate further. There will be a second wedding piece coming up, but also other projects I want to try. The cherry tomatoes have a tinge of orange this morning. soon. ;-) yum.

Lovely flowers and your veg is looking good, even your tomatoes are looking yummy,
Yes the sun is shining but we have a dirty black cloud approaching, it's supposed to be a fine day, heavy humid for the next couple of days.

    1. I finished the stitching last night, and will begin the beading this morning, Margaret! Next post I'll be able to show the piece all framed and ready. I hope that black cloud sailed right on by you, and brought more sunshine in its wake. Today is overcast and cool, and I have peas to pick....Thanks.

  4. Ah, what a nice surprise to see your stitching at the top of my blog reader! I couldn't wait to click the title and see what you had completed. I love it!!! The leaves are such a nice detail and add so much dimension. The tiny stem stitch tendrils are so delicate and that chain stitch that keeps the eye moving along the piece is perfect! You asked if the piece looks balanced and it appears to be, but I am thinking once you put the frame around it you will be better able to judge. Framing adds so much to a stitched piece, giving the most simple design importance and elegance, imagine what it will do for this stunning work. You have created a masterpiece, my friend!

    1. Deb, thank you for your lovely comments! I added some SRE to the top and finished all the stitching last night. Today= beading. yay! Soon it will be framed and ready for gifting. You are so right about framing making a difference. Wait until you see the frame DH has made! Even though it's his first intarsia piece, I think he did a fabulous job.

    1. Vicki, thank you for those lovely words! I love to embroider in the evenings while I watch TV, and on my coffee breaks during the day. The garden produce is growing well, and I've already shared some peas and lettuce with my neighbours. There's more to plant for a late summer crop.

    1. Thanks Sherry! We're enjoying the garden's bounty, and I'm almost finished beading the wedding piece. I hope to have it up and stretching today. Wishing you soon have barrels full of rainwater, and your garden is replenished.

  9. Get a load o' them clunies!!! Way to go, SUz!

    1. Fox, those clunies are created by embroidery--called the woven picot stitch. I can manage that, but trying to tat clunies is a totally different thing altogether, and I can't seem to get the hang of it. Mine are misshapen and unruly when I needle tat them (and my hand hurts trying to maintain the proper tension) so I cheat. Thanks.
