July Madness

As the wedding date approaches, I am stitching madly to finish the Wedding Piece. You can see my progress here

In the garden, there are lots of flowers blooming. I'll let the photos do the talking.

More fun with the gelli plate created these:
The first print is on the right: the ghost print is on the left, and I much prefer it

ghost print #2

Taking the print above, top right, I added new colours and a new stencil to create this:
I like it better this way. Do you?
This stencil was created with cut up, sticky-backed foam pieces on a cardboard base.
These last three prints were made with a cut up, plastic, strawberry container. I really like the design it makes.

I hope you've had a wonderfully, creative week.

Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

    1. Poor little grumpy bird was a wee baby who was waiting, and waiting and waiting for his mommy to come and get him. He'd been calling for her for a long time, but I was out in the gardens, and I think she was afraid to appear.....so I returned to the house for a while to cool off, have a tea and stitch, and when I went outside later, baby bird was gone.......so I suspect there was a rescue while I was inside. It sounded like him calling from the big tree......Thanks Fox.

    1. Hi Margaret. The gardener-before-me planted lots of colour. I'm still extricating all the plants from the bindweed though. It's slow work, but I hope it'll mean their control if not eradication......I can hope. I've made some cards from the gelli prints, and I'm thinking about maybe fabric printing in the future. Some of the pages would be good for art journaling, too. I've done a bit of that, and it's fun, but right now most of my time goes to the wedding piece.......thanks

    1. Thanks Judy. I'm lucky the former owner of these gardens planted some lovely perennials, as I get to enjoy them and share. Plans are coming together for the top portion of the wedding piece. Fingers crossed.......

    1. Thanks Dorthe. The week ahead will be cool and busy, but I'm sure it'll be a good one, and I hope to spend some time in the gardens after all the rain. No doubt those weeds are growing quickly now the sun is back. I'll have to go out and see how the flowers have fared......Hope your week is a fine one.

  9. The flowers are beautiful...it is a great time of year in the garden, lots of flowers and still enthusiasm to pull the weeds. The Bind Weed seems to wrap around everything! I try to keep it pulled out and not let it go to seed but somehow it comes back year after year. If it were a flower I liked I would have managed to kill it the first summer! The prints on the cloth look fun!
I look forward to seeing more of Wedding Cloth!

    1. Thank you Deb. Yes, that bindweed is nasty stuff. I'm laying down landscape fabric and mulching over top in between plants, hoping that this will help contain them. It makes it easier to see them, so far, so I can pull as soon as I spot the little beggars. Maybe eventually, the plants will weaken and die? one can hope.
I'm madly stitching to finish the Wedding Piece!

  10. Your garden is lovely, all those lovely flowers it must be such a pleasure to go out among them. Hope you get the bindiweed under control before too long.

Your little bird is so cute you are lucky to get him to be still long enough to photograph so clearly.

    1. Hi Shirley! I think the bindweed is winning....ratz. I haven't been out to work in the garden for almost a week, due to rain storms, and being away to a wedding, but yesterday afternoon I did gather up more bindweed as I BBQ'd the chicken thighs for supper........
Having rescued most of the flowers from the choking means they're looking much happier. Still lots more work to do yet........
Baby bird was waiting for his mommy, and I think he was too small to know that I might be a threat, not able to fly well at all, but it happily worked out well........Thanks.

    1. Thank you, Sherry! I've been hankering to get back to the garden, but all the rain and trying to finish the Wedding Piece means there's been little opportunity. I guess there's always August and September........I do hope the rains have come your way.

    1. Thank you, JPP! We've had great weather for the gardens--not too hot and almost enough rain, so everything seems to be growing well. I love the cropping feature on my photo program because all the weeds and cruddy bits can be cut....... ;-) I really prefer the ghost prints that result. They're a little softer and not so intense. It's fun!
