2015 Begins

Happy New Year!
Here's hoping that 2015 will prove to be a good, healthy, and creative-filled year for us all.

We had an ice storm a few days ago, and everything was coated and frozen. Had the sun come out to shine, there would have been lots of sparkle.

Iced cedars

It was a little slippery and crunchy when I went outside to feed the birds.

I've made a little progress on Wedding Piece #2 over the last two busy weeks.........

Hints of pale colours appear in the leaves, bullions and french knots.
Still lots more to do before this piece is completed.

I'd better get back to stitching!

Thanks for visiting.

Hugs from Suz

The ice looks magical, but I'm sure it comes with hazards and inconvenience.

    1. That's true, it does, Judy. You should have heard it crashing down onto the roof and the patio! I'm glad I was indoors at the time. lol. Thanks.

  3. It has been in the 80's here, but there is chilly weather in the forecast and I am so looking forward to that.

Your snow/ice photos really show your winter season.

I love this piece you are working on. It is really beautiful and the colors serene and lovely.

Have a great week ~ FlowerLady

    1. Thanks Lorraine. I'm slowly adding more and more to the Wedding Piece. Today is about -30C with the wind chill factor, and it was icy outside. I'm sipping hot tea, wearing my long undies beneath my clothes, and trying to get warm. Right now the 80's sound pretty good!

  4. I'd rather have snow than ice! Unfortunately, we now have ice with snow on top of it... yuck! I figure that any little bit of progress is progress, and I love seeing your updates!

    1. We had ice under the snow last year, Diane, and it was not nice at all. Right now my bird feeder base is iced onto rocks and the patio stones. Maybe we'll all get a January thaw.......Thanks

  5. Your wedding piece is looking very beautiful, when it's done it's going to be fantastic! The recipients are going to be very lucky. We had a bit of snow and ice here, too, thankfully more snow than ice. It still caused a lot of traffic problems that I was lucky enough to only see the results of, not having much trouble ourselves.

    1. That ice is nasty when it causes traffic jams and accidents. I'm glad you avoided them, tattrldy. We only have a bit of snow, but I'm not complaining! lol I plan to add more to the wedding piece tonight. Thanks.

  6. We're still trying to get the ice off our car - at this point I think it's going to have to wait until the weather warms up. Your wedding piece is looking wonderful - you put so much work into your pieces!

    1. We were lucky, MA--our neighbour was away and let us park our car in his garage, so we had no scraping to do. Once the sun comes out, though, it might help to melt it. I've been enjoying every moment on this piece. I think I might just do one for myself one of these days........ *;) winking

    1. Thank you Dorthe! Yes, the ice looks pretty, I agree. Makes everything slippery, though, so I have to be pretty careful--don't want to fall and wreck my new knee. Perfect reason to stay indoors, sip a hot tea, and do some stitching, right?!

  13. Happy New Year to you too!! Your ice looks beautiful but I am under no illusions as to how difficult it must be to live with. Your embroidery however....I could very easily live with that....

  14. Each stage of this beautiful piece has taken my breath breath away. I get the urge to touch it. The combination of the stitches and tatting gives a lovely texture, and the sheen of the pearls enhances the beauty. Love following this journey, and i am sure you will complete it.
Your photos winter show what a wonderland you live in.

    1. Shirley, thank you for those lovely words! I admit that sometimes I do run my fingers over the stitches and the tatted heart just to feel the different textures. Some of the threads have more sheen than others, and catch the light nicely, so I'll have to try to balance that out over the whole piece. I do love to stitch on this project.

    1. It does look pretty with the sun reflecting off the ice, but it's a bit too dangerous to be desirable. I am happy when I'm stitching, so it's been a good start to the year. *:) happy Thanks.
