It's the middle of August already, and we finally had some rain, so the temperatures have cooled, at least for a couple of days.
The gardens were wilting badly, but the rain has perked everything up. It's raining again today, which is good. ;-)

yes, that's grass behind the sweet william........it's usually a deep green this time of the year
even though I've been watering regularly, the golden glow is still wilted
and the echinacea look very sad

I finished PPP #4:
A crystal and silver butterfly has flown to a bullion seam treatment

I'm leaving the top section plain, at least until it's joined to the next block.

This is the lay-out for the wrapping cloth. See those openings here and there? I have 2 other finished pieces that I may cut up and fit into the bare spots.........
The size as shown measures 49 1/2" by 51 1/4". I think that's large enough. Now to finish joining all the pieces together!

ReplyDeleteThank you Jane. I shall have to try and make all the future lillies less tasty, or even harder to reach. Rotten little beggars. It's not as if they were hungry, either. They were getting lots of bird seed from underneath the feeders.............

Lovely flowers! your wrapping cloth looks beautiful..I've followed the entire progress and can't believe it's almost finished :-) you've put lots of love and effort into this wonderful project . Wish I could see this beautiful cloth in person...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anita! It's a good thing I didn't know how long the wrapping cloth would take me when I first began--I might not have continued with it. But then I would have missed out on many, many happy hours of stitching pleasure. I'm excited to see it finally taking shape.

Reading about your lily thieves reminded me about a produce called 'blood meal' (hardware stores have it in the garden section if I remember correctly). Putting that around your plant might deter the critters (but you might have to reapply it if it rains). Your wrapping cloth looks amazing - you must be so excited to see it nearing completion.
