TAST

Thank you for all the lovely comments.
Our daughter and family have begun the long trip back to Australia, and the house is suddenly quiet, and feeling so empty.  I already miss them tons!
I'm two weeks behind on TAST, but have managed the beaded hedebo stitch on my Jewel block.

I've placed it opposite a beaded organza ribbon

I like this stitch, and may do another seam treatment with it, but making a deeper hedebo
frilly pink lace anchored with variegated pink bullions
a different angle

Jewel's block looks like this, so far

I have the knotted loop stitch to add, too

DD has decided she wants this block turned into a pillow, so I may need to add more material, or trim some, depending on the size of pillow I choose.....
still lots more stitching and beads to add

I 've been working on my Redwork Course with StitchMAP, but no work photos to show as yet.
Next week I hope to be caught up on TAST,  have some CQJP 2012 progress to show you, and perhaps some WIPs or painting to share.
Hope you all have a wonderful week.
Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

  1. Saying good-bye is always bitter-sweet. Wonderful that you have had lots of time to spend together.
Your stitching will get caught up in no time. Jewel's block is beautiful. A pillow will be a nice treasure to enjoy daily. Blissful Stitching Dear...

  2. Thank you, Sherry. It was difficult saying good-bye and walking away after all the fun and laughter Jewel and I had shared..........and difficult, too, saying yet another farewell to our daughter........my stitching has been a nice distraction. Jewel will have fun feeling the different textures on her new pillow. Hope you're having some nice weather.

  3. Your Jewel block is looking great, Suz! It'll make a fun pillow that I know will be treasured. Visits go way too fast, don't they?

  4. Your block is looking terrific and the hebedo stitching is very nicely done. I quite liked this stitch and hope to use it again sometime soon.

  5. How you must be missing your family and the beautiful grandchild especially, they grow up so quickly, wonder if you are able to skype (not sure about the spelling) them, not that I can use such equipment but my sister in Autralia skypes her daughter and grandchildren in Pakistan, says it makes them much nearer.
Your block is coming on wonderfully and will make a beautiful cushion

  7. I liked it, too, JPP. I think I want to try a fatter one so it shows up better. Now I need to try the knotted loop--yours is so fun!

  8. Margaret, we couldn't use skype on our system before the upgrade: I'll have to get a camera and see if we can now, as it would be nice to keep in touch and see each other. There is a 14 or 15 hour difference (daylight savings time) which adds to the difficulty of synchronizing phone calls, so it means very early morning or late night calls at my end. We hope to travel to Australia next year for a visit, but that seems so long away!

  17. That visit seemed to be so short and I know you must miss them so much. At least you have lots of projects to keep you busy!

  18. Pretty much, Karen, but I'm trying to stay busy..........lots of stitching. ;-D

  19. I think no matter how long the visit was, it would be too short. Unless it was permanent. I could handle that. Actually, I think I'd be cheering.........ah well.
Yep, there are lists of projects, and I'm trying to keep busy. The Redwork course with StitchMAP is certainly helping with that.
Thanks. Hope all is going well with you and your stitching.

  20. ohhhhh what a sweet sweet baby block - it is simply adorable and so is your precious grandbaby! I know how you feel with your family living so far away - mine are 3,000 and 6,000 miles away and I miss them terribly. Happy Fall my friend!
