Suz in The City

It's been a while, hasn't it? I'm so happy to be back to blogging, even though things are still chaotic in our 'new' home. After the 14 hour move, the heat wave struck, and, since we don't have AC, it was too hot and humid to work very long at a time. We took things slowly...........
But, gradually, things are becoming a little more organized. Good thing, too, because my friend Shirley is coming for a visit!
So, here's a little pic of our cute little bungalow, and some shots of the back garden.

I love to sit out on the patio and enjoy a cup of tea or a meal

there are flowers in the back gardens, though they are overgrown and full of bindweed

this beauty was the last bud to flower on a lone plant
hostas! I love hostas!
this back gate leads to a walking/cycling path
we are seconds away from a large park, too.
DS and DDIL can ride their bikes here in ten minutes! It's downhill on their return, and it takes just 5 minutes!
It's so nice to be closer to family.

We live on a lovely little court, with very nice, friendly neighbours, and, though we're in the city, this is a quiet little spot.  I love it!

Have I been stitching? Yes, a little bit.
If you're interested, you can see what I've been creating with needle and thread here and here, too.

Hope you have some time for creating this week.

Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

    1. Thank you Sherry. I think I fell in love with the house at first sight....there's a little front patio where I can sit and read or stitch, but I'm hidden by the plants......and the back gardens captivated me, too. The greenspace out back was an added delight. I'm sure we'll enjoy putting our stamp on our new home.

    1. I shall miss the lake, too, Anita. Infact, we really missed it the first week when we had that heat wave! It was a beautiful and tranquil spot, but I think we've found our own tranquility in our new home and garden in the middle of the city. Conveniences are just around the corner, but we have our own quiet oasis here. Have a great week!

    1. Wendy we share a love for hostas: they have appeared in numbers in every garden that I've had for more than a season. I think it will take some time before we are settled as we had to remove all the carpeting in the basement, then DH put in a new kitchen tap, and then put in central vac. So among the unpacking, there is ripping open wall pieces to install, then plastering them over........In a few days, I'll be able to paint, and then I can put my studio closet back together....it was really the only area in the studio I had organized before we decided to install the CV......figures....lol

    1. We haven't lived even close to a town for 38 years, so moving to the city was making us a little nervous. We were lucky though, to find this spot when we had such a narrow search window. So far, it doesn't feel like we're in a city, except for all the amenities! Thanks.

  23. You did experience a dream many have had (myself included) of having waterfront property, for all those years, although I admit that i would have felt a little isolated there, especially in winter. I'd love to have a place in Erie, overlooking the huge lake, but still near to the modern conveniences! I'm so glad you have all those photos on your blog, because I loved looking at Turte Island! Apparently you kind of had an exclusive view of 'him!' However, I'm so glad you're near your family now, in a delightful place! I also continue to be amazed and impressed with your beautiful stitching!

    1. Kathy, I think a place in Erie would be nice (and without the isolation we experienced). Waterfront property is wonderful, but it does seem to come at a price.......
We've had many wonderful times at the lake and on Turtle Island, especially family holiday times. They have become delightful memories.
Now we've found a cute little spot with lots of privacy and green space, and all the conveniences close to hand. I don't have to battle bugs, either.....lol!.....working in the gardens. Life is good. Being closer to our family and friends makes it even better.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments.
