Stitching as September Ends

There has been so much happening during the last 5 weeks while our daughter and granddaughter have been visiting, and there's 1 more week until they return home to Australia. It's been wonderful making so many, warm memories together and falling in love with Jewel all over again! She's such a beautiful, loving, and happy toddler.
Catching up will have to wait until the house is quiet and empty.............
You might like to see my last stitching update on the Tuesday Stitcher's Blog
The newest stitching update follows:

I've finished the CQJP September block with a few simple seam embellishments, and 3 cast-on stitch roses.

 All finished and packed away.
(sorry the photos have a yellow cast, but it was a dull, grey day and I needed to use a spotlight.....)

October is naked, and awaiting needle and thread.........

Stitching fun continues on my wrapping cloth pieces.

Piece #8, completed and damp-stretched

I gathered all the pieces to date, laying them together to determine how many more I'll need to complete my cloth.
Quite a few more.........

I wanted, too, to see just how the pieces looked together, hoping for design and stitch continuity.
So far, I'm quite pleased. :-D

piece #9 is underway with the creation of a trimmed pocket

beside a doubled hanky, edged in lace are bullion beginnings.....
and the possibility of another pocket created and embellished........
cast-on stitch edges the lace-covered wild fabric

looking forward to lots more fun on this piece

I hope your week has given you some time for happy stitching.
Happy October!

Hugs from Suz

Thanks for visiting. Hugs from Suz

    1. Thank you for those good wishes for our daughter and granddaughter, Margaret. It's such a long way that they do it in stages. I'm sure it must be exhausting for them both, so it's extra special that they do it to come for a visit. The next one may not be for several years. We do have skype, though, which allows us to keep in touch.
I'm glad you like my roses-- they're such fun to do.

    1. Thanks JennyPennyPoppy! It took several weeks to get that much stitching done, but I love the sound of the thread pulling through the fabric: the whispers take me to another place where time recedes .........and I like to go back as often as possible! lol

  19. Hello Suz
Oh I know the feeling of saying goodbye to my daughter and granddaughters on another continent - it's so hard....
Your stitching is all so beautiful and hopefully by keeping your fingers busy it helps you.
I looked below on your blog and read about your wrapping cloth - I've always wanted to do one since seeing Karen's blog - one day maybe.
Your piece #7 is very beautiful and inspiring with very special old hand made lace....

I'm now following you so we don't lose touch and I've sent you an email!

  20. Thank you, Shane. The good-byes are so difficult, but I find returning to a quiet and empty house even harder. The silence seems to vibrate. I shall have to turn up the music and dance- just like Jewel and I did almost every day, and feel that connection.........Keeping busy is the key, and stitching does help, but it's like empty-nest syndrome all over again.....well, enough of that!
I do find the wrapping cloth rather addictive, and I'm drawn to stitching on it when I should be doing other things, but it's so relaxing and meditative that I have to give in.... ;-)...
Thank you for your lovely comments.
