Middle of March



Here's lookin' at you!

It's bashful bunny-- a pincushion for the Fiber Fest


lots of buttonhole stitch, embroidery, and a bit of tatting

one droopy ear, and a pink pouffy tail

another pin cushion in white and blue

tatted leaves encircle the bottom section

blue bead fringe sets off the tatted bow

a fancy picot flower is set with a blue AB crystal on the top







I've made some progress on the Blackwork Butterfly, but mostly, I've done a lot of frogging..........My fourth try I finally got the upper right wing section finished with the correct-sized squares.........


now it's on to the bottom sections........
I've made a start.....





Last week I took my gelli plate to our Embroidery Guild meeting to demonstrate mono-printing on fabric.
As a result, some new fabric prints were made





and some more layers were added to my large gelli-printed cloth.

There are some interesting results.


A few more layers and some of these pieces will be added to the sewing pile.

      Dorthe, making the fabric prints is so addicting, I'll soon have too much on hand to use!! Wait,..... no.......what am I saying?.......you can never have too much....LOL!

    Oh! love the prints especially the green wave..cute bunny! you are doing great with the butterfly progress..keep going dear! what is the count of the ground fabric? looks like 30+ so no wonder it's difficult to get the squares correct

      Thanks Anita! The fabric is either a 28-count or a 32. Because I won the kit, I'm not sure of the count, but I'm assuming it's 28........... Still smaller than I'm used to, though. But I'm having fun with it, and learning. ...... I hope..........

      Sherry, the bunny was such fun to create, and I love doing the lashes! Ah, the blackwork piece is a challenge because of the size, and I need to get out my magnifier so I'm not spending all my time frogging and fixing........sigh.......there are more fixes to do .........but, I am learning.     The bunny is so cute! Love the poofy tail. The gelli printing is something I have never tried and I think that fabric would make a cute bunny too! The Blackwork piece brings back memories of an embroidery class I took through Adult Education years ago, we created a Blackwork sampler.

      Thanks Deb. Did you enjoy the blackwork? I am struggling a bit because it's such tiny stitches, and I've been too stubborn to get out my magnifier........The time has come for me to stop being so stubborn though......... The gelli printing is fun, but, quite addictive, whether it's on paper of fabric. Every one is different.........I'm running short of fabric....... ;-)

    Your rabbit pincushion is so cute, with the most seductive eyelashes. I like the blue pincushion also. They should sell well. Congratulations on the gelli plate prints. I love the green one makes me think of the jungle.
    You will have to give in and get out the magnifiers Sue, they are such small stitches. I love doing blackwork the finish is so satisfying. Yours looks good which fabric are you using.

      Thank you, Shirley! I've been to the opthamologist and need a new prescription, so I dug out t he magnifier, and I'm finding things a bit easier. :-) The fabric is either 28-count or 32-count. As it was an e-workshop I won, I'm not sure which fabric I received: I think it's the 28. I was having blurry vision, which didn't help.........the new lenses and eye drops should help. Hugs

    You have more projects going-- amazing!! Love the pincushions-- beautiful embellishments. I am in awe of the lovely fabrics you are creating-- reminds me of batik color ways-- just gorgeous!

      Thanks Vicki. I have to wait on the butterfly, as the opthamologist said I needed new lenses for my glasses. Once I can see better, I'll get back to the blackwork. The gelli painting on fabric is so much fun!

    Very cute bunny pincushion and your blackwork butterfly is coming along nicely. Great seeing your gelli plate prints. I have a gelli plate that I have yet to use. I just must use it and play.

      I think you'd have a lot of fun playing with your gelli plate, JPP! Just remember, if it's ugly, add another layer! Works well on ugly fabric in your stash, too --you know the ones you bought then and say now, "What was I thinking?!" lol Thanks.
