April's Happenings

There has been stitching going on during the rainy, cold days of the last week. And a special little visitor came to stay.
Wedding Piece progress:

not much further to go.......!
a gelli plate printed fabric

adding embroidery to the pattern with a variegated crochet thread

6 more wrapping cloth pieces have been pinned

two more are in the works
This little Hedgehog came to Canada all the way from Linda in the UK!

I decided to call her Honey. Isn't she so cute? Thanks Linda! Love my Honey Hedgie!

She's checking out another of my gelli print fabrics. I think she approves.  ;-)

I took another walk to the park

I was surprised to still find snow here and there in the woods and the marshy areas

This Mallard Drake was on the path with his lady

This amaryllis was re-potted a little late and is just blooming. It didn't bloom last winter, so I'm pleased it's doing so now

Now the second flower is opening. There are 4 buds on the stalk. I've had this amaryllis for about 7 years. The red one bloomed last winter, but I only have green leaves this year.

Hope you've had a fun and creative week.
Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

    1. Thanks Lorraine. The amaryllis blooming was a surprise I'm glad happened. Usually they bloom here around Christmas, but then my Christmas cactus is blooming now, too.........hmmm. I wish we were a little warmer here: it snowed today and yesterday. Much too cold for the last half of April! Enjoy your heat and sunshine.

    1. Hi Dorthe. I hope you're having nice seasonal weather. It's been snowing the last couple days, but luckily no accumulation. Too cold, though. With weather like this, I may have to stay inside and stitch instead of getting my garden beds ready for planting. Soon, the Wedding Piece will be finished! Have a good weekend.

    1. Thanks, Jane. I like to stitch on the gelli fabric when watching T.V.-- I don't have to concentrate, and the variegated thread adds its own beauty.

There are quite a few projects on the back burner calling for my attention, and I'm eager to get back to the blackwork butterfly, and my wrapping cloth pieces, too. 6. Your wedding piece is amazing, can't wait to see the finished piece
    Lovely hedgehog,
I thought I had lost my two amaryllis, I put both pots outside ready to throw away when the weather improved, I looked at the pot I was just about to throw it in tge bin when I saw a green shoot, I now have two leaves since I brought back in, they never flowered last year so when they looked dead out they went, it has survived frost, rain and bitter cold, just hope I might get a flower. Yours looks beautiful.

    1. Thanks Margaret. I hope your amaryllis blooms for you this year, but, if not, it may do so next year, like mine are. I didn't have my red amarylis outside last summer, so perhaps the bulb didn't get enough nourishment to bloom. I shall make sure I re-pot both and put them into the garden so they'll have lots of sun and rich soil. It was a good thing you saw those shoots! Maybe yours like a bit of frost. ;-)

    1. That's true, Anni, and we're still having cold days......yesterday it snowed.....sigh. So I stayed inside and did a bit of stitching. This weekend may be warmer, so I may be out in the garden Sunday, but Saturday will find me stitching bowls with the Guild.. Oh, boy, more stitching time! Have a great weekend.

    1. Thank you Jillayne! I really like the colours in the gelli print fabric, and how the yellow pops through here and there. The stitching is addictive, and I have to remind myself to put it down and finish the wedding piece. Happy stitching.

    1. It's fun creating the wrapping cloth pieces, Sherry, but then my art room looks like a cyclone hit it. There are pieces of white fabric and laces everywhere.....I have to clean it up before I can work on anything else. Thanks for the spring sunshine wishes-- they worked! Although it's still unseasonably cool, I may get out to the garden for an hour or so today. I'm already a week behind on my weeding.*:-O surprise I hope the rains come your way.
