Easter Walk

We had a lovely Easter weekend and walked down to the local park on Sunday afternoon.

there is still a bit of snow here and there

I could hear the water rumbling and went to investigate

swirling and frothing

bouncing over boulders

this ice is still thick along the banks of the river

the pond wears a layer of ice, too

it was a little windy, so we returned home for a hot tea

A little stitching was accomplished over the last week:

a few more leaves and roses

on wrapping cloth piece #12, I added stitching to the rose and leaf pattern on the fabric

a row of bullions and french knots

and a few more long bullions

This piece is now finished!
wrapping cloth piece #13 is awaiting thread and needle

Hope everyone had a Happy Easter.

May you have a creative week ahead.

  1. Thank you for sharing your walk. It looks a little chilly, though! I'm sure the hot tea went down well. Your stitching is really coming on well.

    1. It was a little cool at 7C high for the day, Janet, but it was nice to see the sun and be out and about. The tea warmed me up. Thanks.

  2. We can walk along the river now - the ice is gone in front of our building but just a little bit north of us it's still there. Nice to have the water birds back and chatting amongst themselves very early in the morning. Your wedding cloth is destined to be a heirloom - there's no question.

    1. I bet it's nice along the river, MA. Is there a wall to block the wind? I like to watch the birds flitting about in my yard, but I'm sure you'd have different ones by the water than here. Thank you.
Hope we don't get the freezing rain tomorrow morning.

    1. Thanks Sherry, I am looking for all the signs of spring. I did find one bit of green in my garden; a dandelion... ;-b ....lol. Wouldn't you know it. It will happen. Every year seems to take longer,.........is that a sign of advanced age?...... Hope you get more precipitation.

  8. Winter seems to have loosened it's grip here, hopefully soon for you as well. The stitching as always is inspiring. Love just the bit of color in the wrapping cloth and that which is added in your next piece. The Wedding piece.....lovely.

    1. Thanks Anneliese. Most of the snow is gone, except in the park and the forests. I'm waiting for some warm days to melt the rest of the ice and I heard Thursday might be up to 11C! Yay! I'm eager to get out working in the gardens. Hope you have some sunshine today.

  11. Oh Suz,
I can immagine how much you want that ice and snow, to dissapear and stay away for months!! Here at last it seems we are getting higher temps, and the sun has been out the last days.
Your embroidered pieces are stunning, also the finished wrapping cloth piece!! Wish you happy hours with no.13 .

    1. Thank you, Dorthe. We've been having quite a bit of rain lately, so I think the last bits of snow may have been washed away. Now, I'm waiting for the sunshine and warmer temperatures. They're coming, I know. I'm glad you've been having sunny days.
I think I'll have lots of fun with piece #13.

    1. Thank you, Anita. I had made the gathers before, but I think the bullions make them stand out more. Then I added some french knots around the base of the bullion. i do like the effect, too. Happy stitching.
