Marvelous May

Why is May so marvelous? First, spring has arrived! Second, the Gelli print fabric is almost finished! Third, Wedding Piece #2 is finished!! Yay! and Fourth, I've been gardening and planting vegetables. Fifth, I've been playing with paint, and some ink.
So, May is beginning in a marvelous way.
In the garden this week:
these beauties shot through the eart in the last couple of days to add some happy colour to the garden beds

I love the variety of colour on one plant!

the gelli print fabric is colourful, too

some areas have an overlap of the pattern, which has made the embroidery a bit confusing..........

I had the need to play with some paint

I put the brush away, and used a credit card for the rest of the painting.
Lots of soft wave action.....

A friend spotted something in the water.......
Look!  A sea turtle!
Wow, how did that happen?!

Magical.
The basement bathroom is finished, and I grabbed a few of the tile pieces left in a bucket. After washing, a thin layer of rubbing alcohol was applied, and then I added some inks.
white tiles......
I love the bubble action.

This is a brown floor tile.
I got in trouble using the tile pieces......they might be needed for the upstairs bathroom, which is now in renovations..........I'll have to wait and see if there are any tiles left over when that bathroom is finished. Then, maybe I can play some more......... ;-)

Wedding Piece #2 is finished, and damp stretched!
Once upon a summer's night, two people declared their love and shared their wedding vows beneath a glowing super moon, surrounded by family and friends, all standing amid a beautiful winery. Pink roses flanked each row of grape vines, their soft scent perfuming the air. The grapes were not yet ripe, but glowed in the moonlight with the promise of a bountiful yield.

Does it look balanced to you?

shown with the ruler

now it needs to be mounted and is awaiting the frame DH is making

I hope you've had a fun a creative week.

Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

Your wedding piece is stunningly beautiful, they will be so happy to recieve it when framed, in a lovely frame,-and your gelli printed embroidery, is fantastic, too. I admire your painting skills, and think it is wonderful that you by accident created the turtle, how sweet, and fantastic, too.

    1. Dorthe, I'm so glad the warm weather has reached you, too. Isn't it wonderful to see colour after a long grey and white winter? The turtle happening was quite unexpected, and I didn't see it until my friend pointed it out to me. Amazing what some paint swipes, blobs of white paint, and squirting water can do!Thank you, and happy weekend.

    1. Deb, thank you for your comment. Sometimes I can't trust my eye to see true, especially when I'm emotionally attached to the project, so it's nice to have another artist's eye to confirm what I think I'm seeing. Thanks. Hmmmm, now what will I do? So many choices........... ;-)

    1. Yes, Margaret, I'm having a great May and hope you are, too! The turtle was a complete surprise! After the base paint was on the canvas, I added some blobs and drips of white acrylic paint, then spritzed them with water to see how it might react and possibly create foam. This time it created a turtle. I didn't even see it until it was pointed out to me. Amazing what happy accidents can create! Thanks.

  9. Oh Suz - your wedding piece is beyond incredible!! I can see that hanging in a museum in a century or two - no question. I do hope you are VERY proud of the work you did. Thank you for the flower pictures (the closest I can get to them at the moment) and definitely a happy turtle accident.

    1. MA, I hope the allergens blow away soon and you can get out and about to enjoy the flowers. You know, I just realized I forgot to sign the wedding piece! Well, that would never do if it ever made its way to the museum, would it? I am proud of my work, so i best sign and date it. Can't leave the people of the next century or two wondering, now can I? ...lol.... Sorry, I don't mean to sound flippant-- it just never occurred to me that it would warrant a museum spot. Thank you so much for thinking that it might!

    1. Diane, I am so pleased you like my projects. The gelli printed fabric has endless possibilities, depending on the stencils used, and I know you're having fun with your gelli plate. Addictive fun, but still lots of fun! I've just been playing with the acrylic paints to see what happens, and so far I'm enjoying. It's a lot different than my watercolours, and more towards mixed media, which I also like to play with. I love to play and experiment! Thanks.

    1. Thank you so much, JPP! The gardens are enjoying the rain and spring sunshine, and I think they may inspire some more gelli printed fabric. I really like embroidering following the pattern of the stencils. I do love to play with paint and see what happens. Now that the wedding piece is finished, I'm waffling about starting something new, or finishing some projects I have on the go. I'm sure I just need a bit of a break, or the excitement of trying something new........
