The weather has been so fine over the last week, that I've spent a good part of each day outside working in the gardens. ;-)
So, only a wee bit of stitching was accomplished:
I've almost finished the purple project piece ( ppp ) #2. There's just one seam left to embellish. Then it's on to ppp #3.
On a night when sleep was elusive, I sat up for a while and tatted some Mary Konior patterns. Here is Embryo
( top ) and the first part of Jasmine.
In the garden, the trilliums look very happy in the shade.
These celandine poppies are waiting to join others in the shade of the trees. It's supposed to be quite warm today, so I may wait and plant them this evening.
I love creeping phlox.
some shots of different parts of the flower gardens:
This large pot welcomes visitors to our home.
It was just planted this last weekend, and will take a bit before the plants fill out.
That's all for this week.
I hope your week has been sunny and creative.
Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

I always love your posts. Thank goodness you are getting some warm weather now, your garden is looking beautiful. Your tatting is fascinating, it is a skill I have rarely seen and certainly have never learned myself. I look forward to seeing more. Cheers
ReplyDeleteThank you Robin! Yes, spring came on late, but fast, and today it's too hot to garden outside in the afternoon sun. So I may do some this evening after supper. I learned needle tatting some years ago, and now there are lots of youtube tutorials if you ever want to try it.

I do love spring and yard work, I find myself tatting and sewing early in the morning and late at night, and when the work is done I sit in a rocking chair outside and tat and then I see other plants that need me :) Love your flowers and tatting and the deep purple too :)
ReplyDeleteThere's something rejuvenating about the earth's re-awakening in spring, isn't there? I just have to remember I'm no longer 20 years old when I go out to garden....lol! In the nice weather I try to garden during the day, and then stitch or tat in the evenings, but I can't do it outside as there are too many biting bugs that like me. ;-(

Your garden looks so wonderful - a delight - it can be seen that you put a lot of work into it. And elusive sleep ..... I know this so well - and tatting then is so silent and calm - I ust think about this method.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anneliese. Yes, many, many hours have gone into the gardens here, and I'm not quite finished yet...... *:-O surprise but I do enjoy it. Tatting can be silent, but not always calm-- it depends whether or not the pattern is working, or if the thread is knotting in all the wrong places-- lol. Actually, I find any kind of needlework calming, so I often will tat or embroider when I can't sleep.

Seeing all the pretty flowers makes me miss our gardens, even though I never got to play in them because of my allergies. I sure loved looking at them though!
ReplyDeleteYes, even just looking at the gardens can have a calming effect for me (as long as I'm not thinking of all the things that need doing! lol) I'm sorry you suffer with severe allergies, Mary Anne. I'm allergic to cats, and I love them, but must avoid them. sigh.

your purple creation is looking good, and the garden how lovely, I have massed of the poppies they spring up everywhere, not sure where they have come from presume birds dropped the seeds, also have masses of forgetmeknots coming up so plan to split them as none in the front garden and they make a glorious carpet of green and blue. The blossom on your tree is lovely
ReplyDeleteThanks Margaret. I love the poppies, and wish they'd flower for longer. The forgetmeknots keep trying to take over the gardens, so I must keep them in check or they smother the other plants. They are very hardy.

Your pictures are so calming! Our lilac has bloomed and faded. The roses are starting to bloom, but are in desperate need of some TLC. I have a feeling Dave and I will be spending some time sprucing up around here this weekend. I hope are yard soon looks as serene as yours does!
ReplyDeleteOur lilacs are just coming into flower. I love the scent, and like to bring in lots of blooms to enjoy indoors. I cut back the roses severely this spring as they haven't done well, so I hope to shock them into some lush growth and flowers. Either that, or they'll be gone. I like roses, but my garden plants can't be finicky. I don't have the time to indulge them, so they pretty much need to thrive on what care I can give them. Thanks.

your garden looks s inviting Susan, my mum also gets lost in her garden at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen. The time flies when I'm out digging in the dirt, and the results are certainly worth the efforts. So I garden in the mid-morning to early afternoon, then stitch during the hot hours of the day. Happy.
