Is it Spring Yet?

May has been a cold month so far. We even had snow flurries the other day. Where are the sunny, warm days of spring?

I've made a little progress on crewel flower #2. The dark blue seems to make the other colours pop.
A couple seam treatments are in progress on the new purple project CQ block. Don't you love the zing of that green rayon thread?

French knots for the flower centers.

The butterfly and daisies are awaiting needle and thread.
I'm pleased with this so far.

I've been playing with Sheila Heneise's  Angel with Paisley Wings.

It's a cute little angel

I added beads for the halo and to the skirt bottom to add a bit of weight.
On the fourth angel, I changed the starting point to close with a split ring for the head. This way I can incorporate a hanger from the thread ends. The beads on the skirt, though, are too big. I played with the stitch counts here and there. I think I like the shape of the first one best, but I also like the small beads.  I'm in the middle of tatting angel #5. These are so cute, and small enough to include in a card, so I may be making more of these for Christmas.
That's my week. I hope yours has been a fun and creative one.

Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

  1. The dark outline does highlight the lovely satin filling.
I loved the happy movement of the angel & tatted it immediately. But 5 already?! Wow :-)
We are in the throes of summer heatwaves :-(

    1. Yes, it was the movement in the angel that called to me, too. ;-) Actually I've started a sixth one......lol.....still playing with the counts and I might make another change or two perhaps. Or not. The 1st one is the only one that has the happy dance. Maybe I'll stick with it, but make the dress a bit shorter? We'll see. Enjoy your summer while you have it. How hot does it get? Thanks muskaan.

    1. Thanks Judy! Those are cute angels Sheila designed for sure. I'm up to 6 and plan to tat more. ;-)
I'm enjoying CQing again. I was doing other stuff for a while and didn't realize how much I missed it until I started on the purple project. I'm sure you could sneak it an embroidery stitch here and there on your lace hearts or your lace journals.

  4. You have been busy. I like the checkerboard stitching on the flower. Yes the colours do pop. Purple is my kinda colour too. I always signed my name on my paintings in purple paint love working with it. Everything has to have a touch of purple.
Love the tatted angels what a clever idea.

  5. The outlining works really well. You have a happy choir of angels! I like the idea of the split ring head so you have strings to hang it with.

    1. The split ring worked out well, but my angels have wobbly skirts, so I'm trying different things to make them lie straighter. We'll see what happens. Thanks Jane.

    1. Thank you so much, Karen! I've been stitching on other projects while I dither on the wrapping cloth, embellishing the last prepared piece. Sometimes I have to kick myself to get moving to finish a project. I think a part of me doesn't want to finish the wrapping cloth, so I'm stalling........ :-o

    1. Thanks Anita! I like the angel whose skirt is done with white seed beads. I think I'd like to shorten the skirt, though. Oh, more tatting fun! ;-)
