Week 4 of TAST is the Cretan Stitch. Here's my practice piece:
CQJP Progress:
With feedback from the Tuesday Stitchers, (thanks Ladies) I beefed up the seam treatments on my CQJP,
Lots of French knots
more bullions
I used 3 different coloured threads to repeat those in the snowflake material
( sorry it's blurry)
and a heavier thread for the feather stitch
I decided to leave the rest of the areas unadorned, for now. More can always be added later, and I wanted some open places for tatted snowflakes, too.
Now it's time to turn my attention to block #2!
Hope you're having a weekend filled with doing something you love.
Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

You have such pretty colors in your TAST sample!
ReplyDeleteYour french knots are great.
ReplyDeleteTatted snowflakes on the empty spots would look lovely.
I like the leave in Cretan stitch. Looking forward to your tatted snowflakes
ReplyDeleteThanks Gina! At the rate I'm going though, I'll be running out, soon.
ReplyDeleteMarjolein, I used to dislike french knots, but once I learned how to make them properly, I love to stitch them! I'm tatting those snowflakes, but it's going to take a looong time to make them all. ;-0

Lovely sample, I do like your feather -and the block is great!
ReplyDeleteLove how you've combined colours in your cretan stitch sample. Pretty Christmas block too!
ReplyDeleteSuz, I love the close worked cretan on the leaf I did not have any success with that. Your blocks are wonderful.
ReplyDeletei like the cretan circles they are great.
Congratulations Susan. You won the painted Lutradur from Laura Wasilowski's blog. Based on what I've seen here, you will have little difficulty finding a use for it.
ReplyDeletevery nice work. I love it.
ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteloved your cretan on leaf..it is looking beautiful..feather stitch part n french knots are beautiful..
I just commented on your lovely block at Tuesday Stitchers, and after I did, realized that I had not mentioned your Cretan stitch variations. Back to the food metaphor, these look like those wonderful pastel mints, and that circle is too cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Emma. Some of the stitching was so fine it was lost, so it sure needed something.

ReplyDeleteLakshmi, I love doing french knots! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLove your TAST week 4 colors, make me think of spring and buttery mints!
ReplyDeletefabulous feather in the top image! Wow! You always seem to make so much.....do you stitch in your sleep or do you just not feed anyone?
ReplyDeleteHi Julie. They do rather remind me of those melt-in-your-mouth mint creams. Well, except for the dark green.....
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment.
Hugs from Suz
I don't feed anyone, Karen, and some nights I can't sleep.........well okay, I do feed DH..........
