TAST and CQJP

Week 4 of TAST is the Cretan Stitch. Here's my practice piece:

CQJP  Progress:

With feedback from the Tuesday Stitchers, (thanks Ladies) I beefed up the seam treatments on my CQJP,

Lots of French knots
 more bullions
I used 3 different coloured threads to repeat those in the snowflake material

( sorry it's blurry)

and a heavier thread for the feather stitch

I decided to leave the rest of the areas unadorned, for now. More can always be added later, and I wanted some open places for tatted snowflakes, too.

Now it's time to turn my attention to block #2!

Hope you're having a weekend filled with doing something you love.

Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

  5. Marjolein, I used to dislike french knots, but once I learned how to make them properly, I love to stitch them! I'm tatting those snowflakes, but it's going to take a looong time to make them all. ;-0

  13. Congratulations Susan. You won the painted Lutradur from Laura Wasilowski's blog. Based on what I've seen here, you will have little difficulty finding a use for it.

  15. I just commented on your lovely block at Tuesday Stitchers, and after I did, realized that I had not mentioned your Cretan stitch variations. Back to the food metaphor, these look like those wonderful pastel mints, and that circle is too cool!

  16. Thanks, Emma. Some of the stitching was so fine it was lost, so it sure needed something.

  24. fabulous feather in the top image! Wow! You always seem to make so much.....do you stitch in your sleep or do you just not feed anyone?

  25. Hi Julie. They do rather remind me of those melt-in-your-mouth mint creams. Well, except for the dark green.....
    Thanks for your comment.
