I posted my progress on my March block and the Sandy Hook Heart on the Tuesday Stitchers blog, but forgot to post here. 10 lashes with wet embroidery floss for me...lol
so here's part of that post:
CQJP March Block
I've just begun working on this block.
a pretty piece of lace trim with ribbon woven through it
I added a few seed beads
with the large lace rose sewn onto the block shows the little progress I've made so far. Good thing it's still early.
I'm looking forward to stitching some more seam embellishments!
the heart block is almost finished!
Since the theme is children's toys, I've begun to add little, subtle stitched bits
bat and ball
starting a beach ball
a pipe blowing bubbles....right beside some bubble fabric
so the heart block now looks like this
Some of the seam treatments represent toys and play to me:
the ribbon woven bars are climbing bars; the woven circles are jacks; the upper right represents flowing water and tunnels as I often played near springs as a youngster, climbing under bowed tree branches and setting sticks floating along the rippling water
I've since completed the heart, and sent it off in the mail. I'll show a pic of the finished piece next post.
Hope you've all had a good week, with time for creating.
Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

Denise, what lovely things you write. Thank you. I’m still rather a beginner with the ribbon, but I’ve had some good luck with it so far.

I like the little toys you're including in the piece - fun! And your heart is beautiful - of course I like blue so it's added incentive for me to like it!
ReplyDeletethanks Magpie! It was the theme, so I had to sneak them in there......lol. I like blue, too.

Thank you so much, Fox! It’s a very sad reason for stitching, but I filled the heart with love, healing thoughts and hope.

Thank you, Judy. The bubble fabric really inspired the bubble pipe. Wish I had more of that fabric as I love the colours.

The lace rose is so beautiful, it fits in perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marjolein. I’ve been saving that rose piece for quite a while waiting for the perfect project to use it. Hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend.
