My March block is finished! I added a bit of tatting, a herringbone variation in variegated pink, chain stitch half circles, and some cast-on chains.
Buttonhole seam treatments on my wrapping cloth
layers of cast-on stitch chains
a few additions to the basket
a bevy of bullions
beginning of a tatted branch with leaves
the right side of the wrapping cloth
oops, I should have damp-stretched my cloth...... shame on me......
followed by the left side
there are more embellishments in the works for this piece, and soon I'll create a second section of my wrapping cloth.
I bit the bullet, and made some rouleau loops with my wild fabric, so you may be seeing more wild on section number 2.
As always, your comments and suggestions are most appreciated.
Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

All of it is lovely but I like the tatted leaves, haven't tried them yet.
ReplyDeleteThe bullions are great too. I think its going to look fabulous once its finished.

Thanks Briony! I hope you’re right. I’ve finished adding the rest of the leaves, and now I’m going to try something a little new and different on my cloth......

Hi Suz
ReplyDeleteYou are doing really good in your class. I too like the tatted leaves. I envy your ability to do that.
I hcve taken all of Karen's classes to date but really enjoyed the first and second the most which are all on creating your cloth and extending your embellishments. You would enjoy that one too if you haven't taken it yet. It is like an addiction.
I am waiting to see what the lace one will be about. Probably take it also.

Hi Freda,
DeleteI bet you had such fun with all Karen’s classes! I’m really enjoying mine. I’m hoping the lace one won’t start until this one is finished so I can take it. Looks like I may have that addiction..... ;-0

Suz your work is blissful. The soft colors of the March block is beautiful and I love the tatting you added. This wrapping cloth is stunning. I can't even imagine all the work you are putting into this labor of love. Blissful Stitching Dear...
ReplyDeleteI was a little hesitant in using such a restricted palette with the CQJP 2013 blocks, but I must admit that I think it allows for more embellishment, and I do love to embellish. The wrapping cloth is proving to be most addictive, and I sometimes get giddy with the pleasure of creating different looks and surface embroidery. Most of it comes from Karen’s teaching, but it inspires, and I have so much fun learning and trying out new ideas.

Bravo for the loops - and it's all looking just lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love your March block, and that you added tatting - somehow it makes your work more you...
Thanks Jillayne. I was a little chicken about making the rouleau loops, but they weren’t as difficult as I’d feared. You know, it’s funny you saying that about the tatting, as I feel t he same way. It makes it seem more mine.........

Your cloth is looking wonderful! I am excited that you are using color and cannot wait to see the loops applied! Great job!
ReplyDeleteWendy, the loops look better than I thought they might and I like them in the wild cloth. Wait ‘til you see what I’ve done with them.....something a little different........

ReplyDeleteMargaret
Thanks Margaret, I am really having fun with all the surface embroidery! Hope your weather has warmed up a little, and the rain has stopped for now.

a wonderful CQJP block, love the delicacy of the colours chose. The wrapping cloth is coming along a treat wow the basket is amazing and so much to see
ReplyDeleteI can’t take credit for the basket, Margaret as the cloth was embroidered, but I did add a little to the fauna. I’m in stitching heaven!

Your work is stunning, I love the hint of colour. You are a very skilled stitcher.
ReplyDeleteThank you Naida. That pop of colour is pretty wild, isn’t it? But I love it. I’m still learning stitching and having so much fun.

I love the subtle colouring in your March block, Suz. And your repertoire of stitches is amazing! You're obviously enjoying it. Have a great Easter.
ReplyDeleteYou’re right, Janet-I am enjoying. All I want to do is work on my wrapping cloth. Happy Easter to you and yours. Are you knitting Easter bunny puppets?

It's you're like me I expect you will be obsessed with your wrapping cloth creation. Love the tatted leaves and glad to hear you tried the rouleau loops.
ReplyDeleteI was being silly- thinking the loops would be difficult. Silly me. Easy peasy they were. Now I’ve had fun with them....and I'm still obsessed with my creation. Thanks.
