It's been a stitchy week, but I've only made a little progress on my April block:
playing with various ideas
two bars are wrapped, with another set begun
buttonhole chain stitch with a double row of the buttonhole
and April looks like this.
It's a good thing I have 2 more weeks to finish this block.......
Wrapping Cloth Piece #2 Collage
I added a 'bumpy bit' with tatted titivations
tatted some trim to run along the cross-stitched area
began embellishing the appliques
added buttonhole chain stitch as well as other seam embellishments
added another cutwork circle and trimmed it with cast-on stitch chains which carried along the seam
and piece #2 is finished!
I've already begun piece #3!
What fun!
Hope you've been having stitchy fun, too!
Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

Wrap #2 is stunning. It looks just like Spring to me with its bright bursts of color. All of your stitching is really bringing life to the white areas of cloth. How Blissful! Your work is very inspiring dear...
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am now addicted to making and embellishing pieces for my wrapping cloth! And I’m loving every moment! I’ve been saving that wild fabric for something special as it’s a lovely one. Now I wish I’d bought more......lol....
DeleteHappy weekend!

You've made a gorgeous piece Suz. I've become a fan of tatted titivations after seeing yours :)
ReplyDeleteCast on chains around the cutwork looks very pretty...
Thanks Anita. I think there just may be more titivations of the tatted kind showing up on my pieces. I’ve got 5 more pieces in the pinned/tacking phase. Can’t wait to stitch on them!
DeleteHave a wonderful weekend.

your cloth is so beautiful! I am loving that pop of color in your blocks. Just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWendy, thank you. I love those pops, too, and I’m looking for different ways to play with my wild fabric and let it peek out here and there. Happy weekend!

Suz -- Could you tell me what a wrapping cloth is. Yours is beautiful
ReplyDeleteSure Linda. It’s really Karen’s word for the cloths we are creating in class. Basically it’s stitched with lots of love so the recipient can wrap themselves up in layers of love. Because the cloth is also made up from other pieces of cloth, joined together and adorned, it is a reminder of the mending women did in the past to hold cloths and clothes together. My first piece contains a piece of my daughter’s grade 8 graduation dress I made for her many, many years ago. I have more pieces of her dress to include in other pieces of my cloth. So sometimes the cloths contain family history. By also using fabrics and pieces of table runners, napkins and such, no longer wanted by their owners, we are also recycling and upcycling. We are stitching bits of ourselves, our style, our memories and history into a pieced cloth, creating something beautiful. Thank you.

Karen, thank you so much for your comment. I am so enjoying my course, and learning about different techniques, and stitching just for the joy of it. I sure will be sad when the course is over......
