Not a whole lot of stitching to show this week, as some has to remain secret for now..........
wrapping cloth piece #11 has been tacked, and I've made a beginning on titivating the fabric knot.....
with layers of buttonhole lace on the front and top
and on the back.....
2 shots of some of the wrapping cloth pieces put side by side in random order
it's about half the size I hope it will become.......making slow progress.....
I've been working on 1 of the March HEX LABS from StitchMAP, and having fun stitching this pattern for a wattle.
A few more feather stitches, and it'll be time for the flowers
let's get that wrinkle out of there
That's better.......
I think Spring might be trying to visit for the day.......it's gotten to 6C today with lots of sunshine! WooHoo! I spied this pair out on the patio trying to soak up a few rays:
They saw me peeking out the garage door window at them
Even though we still have lots of snow, this one corner of the patio gets the sunshine, and the snow melts quickly on sunny days
More snow in the forecast tomorrow........don't they know it's supposed to be spring?
Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

Hello Suz, Your stitching is so beautiful and your project is looking fantastic. Love the stitching on your leaves so very perfect. I know I think all the birds and all of us is Dreaming of Spring... Hugs Judy
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy! I hope Spring arrives soon for all of us.....the doves looked cute, though they were rather quiet. I've been dreaming of spring for a while.

LOVE those green leaves .... : )
ReplyDeleteMe too, Fox! Pretty soon we'll have real ones poking through the gardens! Thanks.

what you are doing on the knot is fascinating, such imagination to even think of enhancing it. A beautiful leaf. Here we are having a lovely few days, plenty of butterflies have woken and the birds are singing, was warm enough to sit out with a cup of tea yesterday.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're having some nice spring weather, Margaret---can't wait for it to get here! But, it's snowing, again....sigh...well, we had a little taste of it yesterday.

The texture created by the blanket stitches looks pretty interesting on the fabric knot. The leaves are pretty ..how many shades of green have you used or is it a variegated thread?
ReplyDeleteThanks Anita! I used a variegated DMC embroidery floss, and added a medium dark floss 1-ply with 1-ply of the variegated for the darkest darks in the leaves, as I felt the variegated was a bit too light. Happy stitching.

What lovely work you've been doing, such a lot to catch up on, specially your wrapping cloth & I love those boxes in you last post. These leaves are lovely & I look forward to the flowers, too ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Emma! I hope to have the flowers finished today. I want to spend some more time on the wrapping cloth and the Christmas tree skirt, and then there's 2 more HEX patterns for this month, and more fabric boxes in the queue, and I've been to the local Embroidery Guild Stitch-In, and came away with 2 patterns I want to try.........the list keeps getting longer....and I want to do some painting, too. Thanks for stopping by.

Beautiful work! Love the touches of red.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jenclair! I really love that 'wild' fabric, and wish I could find more of it. I guess the wrapping cloth will be finished once I run out......Have a great week!

Your work is always lovely and inspiring.
ReplyDeleteHope you don't get a lot of snow and that spring will come soon.
Love and hugs ~ FlowerLady
I hope so too, Lorraine. (she writes as she looks out the window watching the snow falling. again.) Predictions of 5-15 cm of the white stuff for today so I'm staying home, and stitching. Hope you're having warm sunshine today for all your flowers.

The wrapping cloth is super - and the leaves sublime! I hope spring continues to find it's way to you. We're back to bitter cold today after a warm weekend:(!
ReplyDeleteSo are we, Jules. It was a snowy, blowy day with somewhere between 4 and 8" of snow! Hard to tell just how much as it kept blowing all over......Thanks for the lovely comments! Hope your spring returns tomorrow.

I felt so sorry for the little birds trying to eat at our feeder today - the wind and driving snow was really hard on them. It's supposed to get really cold tonight too. We were spoiled by our one day of nice!!
ReplyDeleteThat's true, we were. I'd like to be spoiled like that some more! I have some feeders on my patio, where it's a little bit enclosed. so the feeders were busy. Yes, -18! Really cold after the warm sun. I'll have to get out early tomorrow and put out more seed.

I think you have had quite enough winter! Those little birds deserve sunshine too. I am swooning over your beautiful white cloths. You were so smart to add that lovely pop of color special fabric. Love that little fabric knot with all the stitching upon it. Lovely green stitchings also. Creative Stitching Titivating Bliss Dear...
ReplyDeleteI think so too, Sherry! That didn't stop the snow, though. lol.....another 4-6"....hard to tell just how much as it was blowing all over.......but I'm hoping it's the last hurrah of winter. Now we can gently slide into spring........I have been titivating piece #11 and adding flowers to the green leaves HEX. Almost finished the wattle!

Love the fabric knot....it really adds interest. All those lovely blocks you have completed...will be beautiful when they are all together.
ReplyDeleteThe doves...I have heard they mate for life...sweet.
I've heard that, too, Deb. I hope this pair makes a home here......they may have stayed all winter since I have the bird feeders out. I do like the sound of the male's cooing. Thanks for those lovely comments.

Dear Suz, your knot looks wonderful, and all those white pieces with little red accents will be so beautiful when finally put together. Also your leaves embroidery looks fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteI`m so hoping for you, that winter is soon ending ,for you to have more birds enjoying the sun in your patio.
Thank you for your kindest comments, dear.
Hugs,Dorthe
Thank you, Dorthe. I've been having fun with my stitching! I think your good thoughts are working, as each day seems to be getting just a wee bit warmer, and the sun feels brighter. I saw a chipmunk on Friday, so spring must be on the way! Take care.

Hi Suz! The wrapping cloth project looks really interesting - I haven't seen anything like it so will look forward to your progress. Love the leaves too. Take care.
ReplyDeleteLorraine, the wrapping cloth is a slow cloth, as I've been working on it for a year now, and I'm probably only half-way along to making it the size I want. I may change my mind on that, though. ;-) Thanks for popping by and leaving such nice comments.

I so love the wrapping cloth idea and would love to see some close up images of the pieces. the red accents look so nice too. That fabric knot is different and looks so effective.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming to visit Suz and I do wish it would stop snowing now so you can enjoy some sunshine!
x Suzy
Thank you so much, Suzy! I usually post close-ups as I work on each wrapping cloth piece, then a full shot once I've completed the piece. Perhaps I'll do a photo shoot of all the pieces finished so far and include close-ups, too. Thanks for the idea!
DeleteToday is so far clear of snow....but tomorrow we have snow, rain and freezing rain in the forecast, so I'm staying home! This winter is holding on tightly, it seems, although there have been a few signs of spring. The chipmunk is out and about now.
