TAST- Stem Stitch

I started out with a thought in mind and stitched this for TAST:

I used stem stitch to outline all the boxes, and to fill in a few.
Then I added a branch with a few leaves to contrast with the rigid squares. (okay, almost squares -it's all free hand)

the leaves are detached chain stitch, and I also used a line of french knots in the lower right.

Stem stitch is one I tend to use often.

Hope you've been having fun stitching.

Thanks for visiting.

Hugs from Suz

  1. I do like the geometric design Sue, and the contrast colour of the little branch really brings it to life. Stem stitch is very versatile.

  7. I really like this...the trailing effect of the green stitching brings it all together beautifully.

  8. Thanks, Janet. Once the boxes were done, I thought it needed something a little curvy: I hadn't considered the 'man-made' vs nature aspect, but you are right.

  9. Hi Karen. Glad you like it. I was going for a fluid vs rigid.
Hope you are happily stitching. Love those bits of colour peeking out from the lace!

  16. Gosh, Suz, I drew up almost exactly the same design last night for doing french knots in squares!! But, have decided to do another design anyway. Your stem stitch looks very nice in boxes. Cheers Di.

  19. Thank you so much, Anni. I do hope to take one of Karen's classes....so far it seems something always happens to prevent it .....so I'll have to wait a little longer......
