Tuesday Tats

It's Tuesday, and I've been tatting!
Gee, this doesn't look like tatting---it looks like crazy quilting!  Well, you're right.
I've been working on a white CQ, and, so far, many of the seam embellishments have tatting!

I used this length of tatted flowers to cover a repair seam on a hanky.

               A JK cascade:
a twirling rope atop a lovely lacy trellis scallop

swirling border covers the seam between free-motion embroidery and plain 'silk'.  I've been using the same Sulky thread as in the embroidered piece, in a pale pink-ivory-green blend and pairing it with white tatting thread of various guages to keep the colour uniform, but add variety to its size.

A wandering JK cascade.

I'm pleased with the progress on this piece so far, and I'll post more tatting another time.

What have you been tatting? Or sewing? Or CQing?
Thanks for visiting.
Hugs from Suz

  4. Your tatted embellishments are soem of the prettiest I have seen on a crazy quilt. They all work so beautifully and don't look "tacked on." Bellissima!

  7. Isdihara, thank you! I'm glad the tattings look like they belong....some are actually tatted into the fabric, so perhaps that makes a difference in perception. Hugs

  8. Thank you, Judy! It's the first time I've made a CQ block just for me, so I'm trying several things and experimenting. Originally, this was to be a wedding piece, but I thought I should practice, first. ;-) I do like those soft colours, and I've begun to use a couple more in my embellishments.Hugs

  11. Thank you, Diane! I like how it's coming along, but there's still lots more to do. I'll be stitching for a while on this one, I think. Hugs

  12. It is indeed, Fox. It's the first time I've done white on white, and I worried that all white tatting might get lost in the white fabrics. These soft colours show up just enough without eclipsing the 'satin' and laces. Hugs
