Working on a fabric piece with earth tones, I wanted to tat some embellishments.
Tatted with 'knitty gritty' in size 50
Doesn't it look like a millipede?
The colours are perfect.
I love the antennae.

I have 1 for each inside seam line. Maybe I'll make this piece all about creepy critters. What do you think?
Hope you're having fun tatting, or creating.
Thanks for visiting.

Hi, Suz!
ReplyDeleteI am a hopeless animal-lover - even insects! Constantly, I admonish the ignorance of my own offspring for killing spiders, swatting flies - oh you name it! But, The one being that I have difficulty "loving" is the poor centipede! They make me shudder and I have to run away! There you have it. My little secret. Brought about by your excellent artistic portrayal! Looks just like the real thing. Ask my goosebumps!
Fox : )
Fox, I don't mind insects as long as they're in their proper place and Not crawling on me! Yuck! Then I go hyper and jump and swat. Now you know my secret! Thanks for a great comment--it make me smile. Are the goosebumps gone, now?
ReplyDeleteHugs
Suz, I loving the colors and the patterns and the textures!
ReplyDeleteXO Diane
Thanks, Diane! I'm having fun with it! Hugs
ReplyDeleteI love your critter! It looks like a piece of hairpin lace, just of the loom.
ReplyDeleteThat is rather interesting! And neat looking! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is the prettiest creepy crawly I have ever seen! Look forward to seeing the rest of the block! Dianne.
ReplyDeleteThanks Annet and GK for your comments. I hope to learn how to do hairpin lace in future. Glad you like my critter.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dianne. I'm just glad it's not real, but I'm having fun working on the block. I'll post more pics later. Hugs
I laughed heartily at Fox's comment and admit I have the same non-love for centipedes. Saw our first one of the 'season' today - yuck. I totally freak out, and yet they are a consequence of our living in a wooded area. I also thought this was hairpin lace - so must be a ton of picots! Nicely done, from a needlework point of view, and pretty in its own way!! :)
ReplyDeleteI admit that I'm quite envious (actually turning green) of that INCREDIBLE lake view you have!!! I figured there was water under all that snow! (The 'dock' was a hint!!) Do you ever have flooding problems?
I always appreciate your comments on my blog!
Thank you, Kathy, for the lovely comment! Fox made me laugh, too! She has a great sense of humour!
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of long picots on the tatting, but it works up very quickly. And they're fun to make. Now, everytime I tat one of the centipedes, I'll be smiling thinking of you and Fox doing the freaking out dance. LOL
Our house is built on a small hill above lake level, so it doesn't pose any problems with flooding, thank goodness! It is a gorgeous view, and we've been lucky enough to enjoy it while we've lived here, and for the 2 decades prior when we came up to the family cottage for holidays. It's ever changing, and always entertains.
I always enjoy your posts, Kathy. Thanks.
Hugs
Now this is one millipede I wouldn't mind finding crawling along my garage floor. It is quite lovely and friendly looking and I am certain it will not bite me. Your tatting looks amazing embellishing the seam. Marvelous May to you...
ReplyDeleteit definitely looks like something creepy and crawly!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the lovely comment! You're right, my millipede doesn't bite.

Karen, too right! ;-)
I too love the antenna! It really looks like a millipede. I've been having fun recently with knitted and crochet snakes - so you've given me an idea for a variation on a theme....
ReplyDeleteThanks Janet! Are you thinking of a knitted millipede? Kewl! Hugs
ReplyDeleteYou amaze me with you tatting, how creative you are! Love the millipede, perfect colors and lovely little antennae. Great little creepy crawly :)
ReplyDeleteYou've given me some ideas to try!
I'm so glad you like my millipede, Stacie! Isn't it marvelous how 1 idea on a blog can spark another, which leads to another, and so on? I've received so much inspiration from other bloggers. Hugs
ReplyDeleteWhat a great millipede! I think turning the whole piece into a little bug nest would be fun, I'll be looking for the finished product! Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment. I never thought of making the dolls in different sizes, although now it seems obvious!
ReplyDeleteThank you Susan! Hmm, I hadn't thought of a bug nest, but it sounds good!
